67%。Effect of high frequency pulse current on arc properties, welding technology and mechanical properties of welded joint in variable polarity arc welding were investigated. The experimental results indicated that the increased frequency of the pulsed current significantly contributed to increase arc pressure and arc stiffness under the same mean welding current. When the pulse frequency is higher than 5 kHz, the arc pressure can be reinforced to 260 % that of the general variable polarity arc welding. Moreover, weld penetration, excess weld metal and welding efficiency are also related to the frequency of pulsed current. The maximum tensile strength of welded joints of 2219-T6 aluminum alloy obtained at pulse frequency of 10 kHz is 300 MPa, which is equivalent to 67 % that of base materials.
