摘　　要：新颁布的《大学英语四级考试大纲（2006修订版）》中最大的改变是考试的目的。本文认为原大纲考试目标定位在考核学生是否达到教学大纲的各项要求上，这不仅在实践中无法实现，而且带来许多负面作用。新考纲提出测试学生综合应用能力这一新的考试目的，意味着开始了从教学考试向水平考试回归的旅程，这启始的一步具有非常积极的意义。The revised version of CET Syllabus has abandoned the old purpose of the test, for it is in fact impossible to fulfill the goal of measuring a candidate＇s abilities by the standards specified in the College English Teaching Syllabus. Worse than all, it has created many negative effects. The new goal of testing candidates＇ comprehensive abilities set in the revised version means a return from achievement test to proficiency test, a beginning step that has a profound significance.
