摘　　要：如何处理好城市现代化进程中的历史文化名城保护是个不可回避的问题,建设宜居城市和实现首都的可持续发展,对北京历史文化名城的保护策略提出了更多、更高的要求。文章回顾了北京历史文化名城的保护历程,描述了北京旧城现状,对北京历史文化名城保护过程中存在的问题进行了分析,并针对北京历史文化名城的保护提出了建设性策略。On more closing to her first Olympic Games, Beijing is speeding up her modernization. An unavoidable problem is how to balance the modernization and protection of historic sites. To build up livable city and maintain sustainable development, we are demanded to do＇ more on protecting Beijing＇s historic and cultural sites. In this article you will have a look at the process of protection of the historic sites and how the protection is on in Beijing. Based on this the author will do some analysis, and work out his own proposal on Beijing＇s historic and cultural sites＇ protection.
