摘　　要：梵语古典文学是在吠陀和史诗的基础上发展起来的。梵语古典文学时代从公元纪年开始前后持续到12世纪为止,长达千余年。狭义梵语文学专指这一时代的梵语文学作品。封建制度的建立和城市经济的兴盛,使得文学发展不但得到统治阶级扶植,且受到市民社会欢迎。梵语文学在新的历史条件下,继承古代文学的优良传统,反映新时代社会生活,出现了空前繁荣的局面,在寓言、故事、诗歌、戏剧诸多领域均取得了辉煌的成就。梵语古典文学如同一个巨大的语言艺术宝库,为公元第二千年以来印度各种地方语言文学的发展奠定了基础,同时也对包括中国在内的世界众多地区文学产生了明显影响。The classic Sanskrit literature flourished on the basis of the Vedic and Epic literature. It lasted for more than one thousand years, from around the starting of the Christian era to the twelfth century. In a narrow sense the literature refers to literary works produced during this period. The establishment of feudal system and development of urban economy gave strong impetus to its development in both courts and civil societies. It thus ushered in its prime time, and turned out numerous masterpieces taking the forms of fable, story, poetry and drama. The classic Sanskrit literature not only contributed greatly to the development of modern Indian literatures in diverse regional languages, bud also has greatly influenced world literature, including Chinese literature.
