摘　　要：e印本文库（e-print archive）是基于互联网的数据库平台，e—Print是通过e印本文库进行交流的论文预印本、工作论文、期刊论文等灰色和白色文献的统称。本文回顾e印本文库的发展历程，揭示其发展理念、主要特点和类型，并详细介绍单个e印本文库的功能特点，以基于《开放文库计划》（OAI）的元数据采集和增值服务开发机制，概述其在国内外的发展与应用情况。e印本文库是传统非正式交流在网络时代的新发展，也是开放存取运动（Open Access Movement）的典型策略，值得我们探索、试验和应用。The e-print archive is one Kind of internet--based databases and e-Print, which includes all Kinds of grey and white documents such as preprints, working papers, and journal papers, etc., is the object of such an informal scholarly communication equipment. This article gives an overview of e--print archive, which includes the history of e-print archive, the basic hypothesis and opinions, the main characteristics and emerging types, the functions and applications, its OAI-based interoperability and the relative value--added services, and the developments at home and abroad. E-print archive is the new form of traditional informal scholarly communication and also is one of typical strategies of Open Access Movement, deserves being deeply studied and broadly used.
