Objective To find out the prevalence of mycoplasma gentalium(Mg) infection among female reproductive tract infectious diseases. Methods The nested polymerase chain reaction technique and nucleotide sequence analysis targeting the 16SrRNA gene for detecting mycoplasma infection in 211 secretion samples and 231 tissue samples from female reproductive tract infectious disease patients. Results The positive rates of the 16SrRNA gene among patients with reproductive tract infectious diseases are much higher than those among none-infectous disease patients; The positive rate of 16SrRNA gene among patients with cervicitis and cervices inflammatory polyp is much higher than the other inflammatory reproductive tract deseases. The 16SrRNA gene load among gonorrheal viginitis, trichomonal viginitis and candidly viginitis are much higher than control group respectively. Conclusion Mycoplasma gentalium is closely correlated to the female reproductive tract infectious diseases ;The analysis of primary structure of 16 SrRNA revealed that the homology was 97.8% compared with the international standard Mg37 strain, only besides a T insertion.
