摘　　要：通过对乔治.奥威尔在缅甸任警察前后的历史考察以及反映他这段殖民地经历的散文《绞刑》、《射象》和小说《缅甸岁月》的文本分析发现奥威尔这个时期的政治观集中体现在对帝国主义制度的态度上,他大致经历了为帝国主义效力、对帝国主义反思和与帝国主义决裂三个阶段,并且每个阶段的变化都与殖民话语有着密不可分的联系。George Orwell＇ s politics around the time of policing in Burma is found to be centred on imperialism in three stages of serving it, doubting it and leaving it, and each of them is closely related to colonial discourse. This discovery is made through the historical investigations into his experience related with co- lonialism and the analyses of his works reflecting this experience, including two essays A Hanging and Shooting an Elephant and his first novel Burmese Days.
