摘　　要：自主学习强调学习者在学习中的主体地位,重视学习者的主观能动性,因此,学习者的自我监控能力就成了自主学习的关键因素。只有学习者在学习过程中学习进行有效的计划、监控和调节,自主学习才真正体现出其固有的本质内涵。教师也应探讨如何提高外语学习者的自主学习能力,加强其自我意识及自我调控能力的培养。This paper analyzes the connotation and features of autonomous learning, and believes that whether learners of foreign language can carry it on effectively relies on their self-monitoring ability. In the paper the writer explains the reasons why self-monitoring is regarded as the main factor in autonomous learning. Meanwhile, the writer proposes the ways in which teachers can help learners to develop their abilities of self-consciousness and self-regulation.
