The effect of rewatering during the tillering stage on the plant height, leaf area, root and shoot dry matter accumulation, leaf area rate, R/S, biomass and grain yields, water consumption, water use efficiency(WUE) of winter wheat threated by moderate or serious drought at seeding period, were studied using wheat cultivars Beinong 6 as materials with tube planting experiment. The results indicated that the plant height, leaf areas, biomass and grain yields of wheat rewatered during the tillering stage after previous water stress can exceed the moderate and serious water deficit controls, and showed a obvious excitation growth effects. Meanwhile, the proportion of dry matter distributed to the shoot increased and the R/S decreased in rewatered treatments compared with the controls. Under different water conditions, the WUE of winter wheat were decreased with the increase of water consumption. The treatment underwent moderate water stress during the seeding stage could save a great deal of water in the case of a little reduction in grain yield. Thus, rewatering during the tillering stage had a remarkable effect on promoting growth and reducing water consuming in winter wheat.
