摘  要:仕唐印度天文学家瞿昙悉达在奉旨翻译的《九执历》开篇作按语说"九执历法,梵天所造,五通仙人,承习传授"。历来对于"五通仙人"一词或有误解,或对其理解未能透彻。本文从汉译佛经中频繁使用"五通仙人"一词时所呈现的专门语境出发,并结合历史上印度天文学的"承习传授"特点来加以论证,以揭示"五通仙人"一词的真实含义,由此探究中国与印度古代天文学的不同传承风格,并进一步阐发《九执历》在中外天文学交流与比较研究中所具有的深刻意义。It was stated in the beginning of Jiuzhi-li (Navangrahakarana), which was translated by an Indian astronomer Gautama Siddhartha (瞿昙悉达) who worked for the Tang Court, that, ‘Jiuzhi-li was devised by Brahma, and inherited by Wutong Xian (五通仙人,pancabhinna, Rsi with Five Spiritual Powers)'. Since the term Wutong Xian was always misread, or failed to be thoroughly understood, the paper is devoted to revealing the true meaning of Wutong Xian based on the special context of the Chinese version of Buddhist Scriptures in which the term is frequently used, as well as the special way in which astronomy was imparted and inherited in India. The differences in the inheritance of ancient astronomy in China and in India are addressed in the paper. Finally it is pointed out that the Jiuzhi-li has a profound significance in the comparative study of astronomy and in exchanging astronomic findings between China and foreigfi countries.
