摘　　要：大学是一个传授普遍知识的地方,大学的主要职能是教学,大学为传授知识而设,这是纽曼《大学的理想》的中心思想。从《大学的理想》有关教学目标——传播和推广知识与培育理智、教学内容——整合的知识、教学方法——激发学习动机以及教学组织——让学生合作学习的论述中,阐述了纽曼的大学教学思想,并据此反思了现代大学教学。A university is a place for passing on universal knowledge, the main function of university is teaching and university is designed to pass on knowledge , which are the main thought of the book ＂the Idea of a University＂ by Newman. This paper expounds Newman＇ s university teaching thought and reflects the teaching in modern universities.
