摘　　要：网络图像的渐进传输是基于小波变换静止图像压缩技术的一个典型实例,目前网络流行的传输图像压缩格式有JPEG和GIF格式,但以这种压缩格式传输往往要耗费较长时间才能显示整幅图像,随着互联网的普及和图像应用范围的不断扩大,对图像的编码提出了新的要求。多级树集合分裂算法SPIHT(Set Partitioning In Hierarchical Trees)小波编码较好地实现了这一思想,它是嵌入式零树小波编码EZW(Embedded Zerotree Wavelets)的改进算法。对SPIHT编码算法从原理到算法进行了分析和讨论,并指出了嵌入式图像编码的研究方向。The progressive transmission of Internet images is a typical example of static image compression technology based on wavelet transform. At present, the popular compression formats of image on internet are JPEG and GIF formats, but it takes a long time to display the entire image. With the popularization of Internet and the increasing application scope of images, new requests are raised for image coding. The wavelet coding of Set Partitioning in Hierarchical Tree algorithm well meets the requirement, and it is the improvement of Embedded Zerotree Wavelet coding. The principle and algorithm of SPIHT are analyzed and discussed, and the way of the research on embedded image coding is pointed out.
