摘　　要：婚姻是自然属性和社会属性的统一。个人的生活背景和价值取向对其婚姻观有着决定性的影响。伯鲁始终拒绝与琥珀结婚的原因在于:作为没落贵族和新兴资产阶级,其本性使他不能无视他们之间的门第悬殊;男权中心的价值取向令他无法超越视女性为"他者"思想局限。Marriage is the unity of both natural and social property. One＇ s viewpoint on marriage is decisively influenced by his or her living background and values. The reason why Bruce always refused to marry Amber lies in the fact that as a declining aristocrat and a new bourgeois his nature made him unable to ignore the wide gap between their families and his man-centred values made him unable to go beyond the idea of regarding females as ＂others＂.
