摘　　要：自治和竞争是美国大学的主要特点。大学享有充分的办学自由、学术自由和招生自由,同时各大学之间为师资力量、学生等展开激烈竞争。自治和竞争促进了美国高等教育的多样化,激发了美国高等教育的生机和活力。Autonomy and competition are the main characteristics of American higher Education. The universities have governing freedom, academic freedom and recruiting freedom, which contribute to the diversity of American higher education and motivate and animate the American higher education as well.
