摘　　要：自由主义思潮是一种政治文化思潮,在中国现代文坛表反映为要求"文学自由"的理论呼声与创作趋向。这股文学思潮发端于晚清,从五四到建国前兴衰起伏三十年,建国后丧失生存空间,其特殊境遇中有着复杂的内蕴。文学上的自由主义思潮塑造了作家的独立人格,强化了作品人文精神和审美品格。然而它却面临着"功利主义和审美价值二律背反"的必然困境。The liberalism trends as political and cultural trends show the request of ＂the freedom of literature＂ m both theory and the creation m the Chinese modem hterature. Starling from late Qing dynasty ,the literature trends fluctuate between prosperity and decline for 30 years from 5.4 and lose the existing space after the founding of the new nation. Though have molded independent personality of writers and strengthened humanism spirit and the aesthetic character of works, the literature liberalism trends face the dilemma between utilitarianism and esthetic value.
