摘　　要：美国长期以来在台海问题上的两面性政策导致“台独”势力的恶性发展，近些年来更是在主张维持台海现状的同时纵容“台独”坐大。美国自认为可以掌控“台独”势力，实际上对“台独”的遏止是有限的，这是当前台海局势潜伏危机的严重所在。former Secretary General of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries. The U.S. long-standing dual policies toward Taiwan and across the Taiwan Straits, have resulted in a pernicious development of the 'Taiwan independence' elements. Especially in recent years, the U.S. has connived to leave the 'Taiwan independence' elements unchecked and at the same time advocated maintenance of a status quo across the Taiwan Straits. The U.S. presumes that it is capable of tightening control on 'Taiwan independence' forces, but in reality it has limited power at its disposal to keep them down. This is where the potential crisis in the situation across the Straits at the present time lies.
