摘　　要：决策者们有时会过分乐观地相信多中心空间发展模式可以为一系列城市和区域问题提供有效的解决之道。本文通过介绍荷兰规划人员在应付兰斯塔德地区出现的一些与多中心形态相关的问题时采取的一些做法,试图提出另一种观点。此外,文章还提醒读者注意,为了更好地理解多中心概念的潜在价值,以及多中心城市区域在实际中面临的困难和挑战,必须考虑多中心城市结构产生来源(在形态上)的多样性。This article reports on the ways Dutch planners try to come to terms with some of the more problematic aspects related to the polycentric make-up of the Randstad. As such, it aims to provide some counterweight to the sometimes overly enthusiastic belief among policy-makers that polycentricity or polycentric spatial development offers a solution to a wide array of urban and regional problems. In addition, the article draws attention to the fact that in order better to understand both the potential value of the concepts and the problems and challenges experienced in polycentric urban regions on the ground, it helps to take into account the variety of （morphological） origins out of which polycentric urban configurations can emerge.
