Aim: To investigate the effects of injection of Leu-Enkephalin (L-Enk ) antibody into striatum, hypothalamus, mesencephalon and hippocampus on oxygen convulsions in rats. Methods: One hundred and twenty male SD rats were randomly divided into 12 groups. L-Enk antibody(0. 5 μl or 1. 0μl)or saline were dricro-injected into striatum, hypothalamus, mesencephalon and hippocampus respectively in different groups before the animals were exposed to 0. 6 MPa (6 ATA) hyperbaric oxygen (HBO). The latent period of convulsions (LPC),the severity of convulsions (SC) and the survival time (ST) of animals in each group were observed' Results:As compared with respective control groups, the LPC was significantly prolonged, the SC was significantly mitigated and the ST was significantly increased in the striatum and hypothalamus experiment groups (Pr0. 05~0.01 ),while there were no significant difference in the mesencephalon and hippocampus experiment groups (P> 0. 05 ). Conclusion:There were considerable oxygen convulsions preventive effect with the micro-injection of L-Enk antibody into striatum and hypothalamus. The results suggested that the oxygen convulsions of rats were related to the contents of L-Enk in striatum and hypothalamus.
