摘　　要：英语新词不但是历史发展的沉淀,而且是未来社会发展的路标。英语全球本土化、社会文化发展为英语新词的产生创造了外部条件,而英语使用者通过词汇工具进行的认知活动是新词发展的内在原因。英语新词是社会的发展和人类文明进步的自然产物,而不是人们刻意为之的结果。New English words are not only residues of historical social devdepment but signposts of future developments. This paper demonstrates with the latest development in new English words. It argues that English glocalizafion and social and cultural development are the outside causes to the birth of new words, and that the cognitive activities English speakers engage in involving lexical tools provide its intemal cause.
