摘　　要：雪莲[Saussurea involucrata（Kar．et Kir．）Sch．-Bip．]又称雪莲花或荷莲，菊科凤毛菊属植物。多年生草本，高15-40cm。根状茎粗，颈部被多数褐色的叶残迹。叶密集，椭圆形或卵状椭圆形，长达14cm，宽2～3．5cm，顶端钝或急尖，基部下延，边缘有尖齿。最上部叶苞叶状，膜质，透明，淡黄色。头状花序10～30个，聚生于茎顶端成球状，花紫色。Saussurea involucrata （Kar. et Kir. ） Sch.-Bip. ,also known as ＂Snow Lotus＂,is a perennial herb of Asteraceae. It is characterized by 15-40 cm tall,rhizomes thick, blackish brown,leaves densely crowded, oblong or ovate-oblong, uppermost bracts 13 - 17, membranous and hyaline yellowish, heads 10 - 30, crowded at the ends of stems,combined into globose clusters,flowers purple,achene oblong,ca. 6 mm. Fl.＆ Fr. Jul-Sep. In China, this species is distributed in Tianshan Mountains, Kunlun Mountains, Altai Mountains and the Pamirs in Xinjiang,growing on high mountains below the snowline at altitudes of 2 400 -4 000 m. Out of China,it is also found in Kazakstan,Kyrgyzstan,Mongolia and Russia （Siberia）. Its big compound capitula with many absinthe-green bracts outside grows at the top of stem, being regarded as a well-known beautiful alpine flower like an elegant lotus standing in snow. Because of its significant economical value and ecological importance in alpine eco-system, as well as its distributional status,it has been ranked as the third grade of national protected plant, belonging to vulnerable species.
