【Objective】The purpose of the research is to study the effects of the sympathetic cervical spondylosis(C.S) on heart rate variability.【Methods】31 patients with sympathetic C.S and 26 healthy controls with metched age and sex were examined by short-term frequency spectrum analysis.【Results】(1)There were significant differences between sympathetic nevous exciting group(22 out of 31 patients)and the controls on the score of MHR,LF and LF/HF in supine, sitting and standing positions(P〈0.05),but no significant differences between both groups(P〉0.05);(2)The scores of MHR and HF in supine, sitting and standing positions of paralysis group(9 out of 31) of sympathetic C.S had significant differences of both groups(P〈0.05).The scores of LF/HF and LF had no significant differences between both groups(P〉0.05).【Conclusions】We hope that this study would support an interdisciplinary research for medicine, neurology, orthopaedics and so on,which could be used as one of the non-invasive method to diagnose and differtiate the sympathetic C.S.The short-term frequency heart rate variability spectrum analysis provide reliable indicators for the study on the cardiac symptoms of sympathetic cervical spondylosis.
