摘　　要：近代中国社会现代与科学发展源自西方文明的冲击,其中近代留学生的归来扮演了重要的角色。在一百年来的不同时期,中国近代留学生运动表现出不同的历史特点,从宗教留学走向世俗留学;从科技救国到变革社会;从东洋留学到西洋留学。几代留学志士不屈不挠的奋斗和奉献,极大地推进了中国社会的现代化进程和包括化学在内的科学的发展。The modernization and scientific progress of recent China appear with the impact of Western civilization, and the returned students have played the important role. For 100 years, the movement of studying abroad in recent China has displayed the different historical characteristics： From the religious study to the common custom study; From saving the nation with the science and technology to transforming society; From studying abroad in Japan to studying abroad in the Western world. The person of integrity in indomitable struggle and offer for several generations enormously advanced the process of Chinese modernization and the development of sciences including chemistry.
