Objective: The current study was designed to investigate the changes in peripheral CD4^ + CD25^ + regulatory cells in cancer patients and the influence of different radiotherapy dose on immunity function. Methods: The peripheral blood was collected from 31 patients with cancer patients. By using monoclonal antibodies, the blood samples were evaluated with flow cytometry for T cell subsets and CD4^ + CD25^ + regulatory cells. Results:The levels of peripheral blood T cell subsets and CD4^ + CD25^ + regulatory cells are detected when different radiotherapy dose(30GY, 50GY). The ratio of CD4^ + CD8^ + in peripheral blood of cancer patients was not significantly less than before it, but the level of CD4^ + CD25^ + regulatory cells was higher than before it( P 〈 0. 05 ), There was potisive relation between the level of CD4^ + CD25^ + regulatory cells and radiotherapy does. Conclusions: The radiotherapy may be reduce the immune function of cancer patients, especially expression of CD4^ + CD25^ + regulatory cells, This finding suggests that CD4^ + CD25 ^+ regulatory cells in peripheral blood of cancer patients can be a useful index for monitoring the immunity function.
