论五邑华侨的现代人格特征——以伍廷芳、司徒美堂为例

摘　　要：五邑华侨的现代人格特征主要表现在:以民族利益为重的价值观,以团结爱国的华侨形象为荣的情爱观,以与时俱进的品格为主体的发展观,以薄名寡利的操守为尚的名利观,以反对压迫、不畏强权的精神为旨归的斗争观。这种人格特征的形成是中华文化滋养、中西文明深度碰撞及华侨自我锤炼的结果。The personality characteristics of modem overseas Chinese of Wuyi origin find their manifestation in the following aspects; the national--interest--centered values, pride in unity and patriotism, keeping pace with the times, living in tranquility without seeking ambition and profit, and their defiance of oppressors and the powerful. Such personality characteristics are the result of the nurturing by the Chinese culture, of the depth collision between Chinese and western civilizations, and their self--cultlvation.
