摘　　要：本文通过对乔治.奥威尔的殖民地经历以及反映这段经历的主要文学作品的考察和分析来探寻他与殖民话语之间的真实关系:奥威尔在殖民家庭、教育、文化以及殖民地警察工作中都受到殖民话语潜移默化的影响,然而殖民地的严酷现实使他发现正是殖民话语构建了白人的虚伪世界,他对帝国主义制度和殖民话语进行了深刻的揭露和批判。挑战殖民话语可以视作是他挑战权威话语的先声和重要组成部分。This paper attempts to disclose the potential relationship between George Orwell and colonial discourse through an investigation into his colonial experience in Burma and analysis of his major works reflecting that experience.The paper argues that Orwell is inevitably influenced by colonial discourse due to the colonial family,education,culture and his own colonial experience of policing in Burma.But the crucial realities in Burma make him discover that it is colonial discourse that shapes the hypocritical world of the whites.He severely criticizes the evils of imperialism and colonial discourse.The challenge to colonial discourse can be viewed as his first and integral part of that attack to authoritative discourse.
