This paper intends to present its authors' development of a simulated model on a small-scale chlorine dispersion accident in a factory area. The purpose of this research is to work out a rather accttrate model which may account for the chlorine small-scale dispersion on a complex terrain by using a Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Computational tool. In doing so, first of all, the geometrical model of the construction in the factory was established in GAMBIT mode, with its mesh generated in the computational area. Secondly, a CFD Code FLUENT was applied to the study of the effects of different release scenarios on the dispersion in comparison with the dispersion results under different conditions. For continuous release scenarios, buildings and eddies may slow down the chlorine dispersion velocity, so as to result in a situation that the concentration behind the building clusters would be much slower than the other zones. In addition, for instantaneous scenarios, large amounts of chlorine would be trapped in the eddy zones, with chlorine staying in these zones continuously much longer. And, finally, this paper has also proved that the simulation results of the software FLUENT has been consistent with the theoretic analysis. Proposal for further work has been made, indicating that the monitored and experimental data developed in this paper can be used to validate the availability of software GAMBIT and FLUENT.
