The results show that the correlation between the change in the Raman spectral features of nanometer sized chromic oxides and its crystal size is quite different from that of other nanoscale materials. It is demonstrated that the shifting and broadening of Raman spectral features are related to the defect structures produced by oxygen deficiency in the material and is not due to a grain size effect.
