摘　　要：有百年历史的哈尔滨中央大街，建筑风格多样，盛极一时。为保护和发扬其特色，提高环境质量，以促进经济和旅游事业的发展，将其改造成为完全步行街。本文概述了改造的规划原则和具体设计。arbin is a famous city in northern China. The Central Street was first built in 1900. The buildings on thestreet are mostly of European style: Renaissance, Baroque and the Nouveau Art Movement etc. very popular inthe 1920s and 1930s. After decades of changes the street is posing a series of problems in architectural appearance, urban environment and road traffic etc. for all its prosperity and beauty. On August 12, 1996 the municipal government decided to build the Central Street into an exclusive pedestrian street. The guiding principle forthe renovation project was 'concentrate on human needs, maintain its historical background, provide a sense ofenvironment, go for quality and beauty and highlight the special features. Six recreational areas are laid out atthe Central Street providing spaces for shopping, sight-seeing, rest and communication. Careful and detailedconsideration hak been given to the elevations of the buildings, the colour,,the shdps, .lamp decorations, greening space and traffic. The renovation project was completed on June 1, 1997.
