Potassium chloride is an important potassic fertilizer. In China,90% of KCl was produced by decomposing carnallite ,which comes from charhan salt lake in Qinghai. The study on the process of carnallite decomposition plays an important role in the increase of KCl recovery. In this paper, the effect of the quantity of decomposition liquid on potassium chloride recovery in the process of carnallite cold - composition was studied according to phase diagram of NaCl - KCl - MgCl2 - H20 quaternary system at 10℃. The research results showed that carnallite could absolutely dissolved in self - designed reactor within 30 min,the maximum yield could reach 85% ;the mass of decomposition liquid increased by 10% ,the mass fraction of KCl enhanced by 1% approximately, but its recovery rate decreased by 2.3% or so. For another, a logarithm function (γ = 3. 209 + 3. 375 inn) between the quantity of decomposition liquid and the quantity of potassium chloride dissolved in solution has been obtained with statistical analysis method. The quantity of decomposition liquid can be controlled by that function. This research can provide a technical support for industrialized production process.
