摘　　要：我国学界对福泽谕吉的关注,多在其思想启蒙的一面,而对他的翻译家身份往往有所忽视。论题通过具体考察福泽如何译介启蒙时代的关键术语——individual,以此简单梳理individual跨语际翻译的复杂历史并初步揭示福泽谕吉的译词风格,进而为人们厘清"个人"、"人民"这两个重要的思想概念提供线索。For a long time, China＇s academic research concerning Fukuzawa Yukichi put more emphasis on his thought of enlightenment, actually as a translator Fukuzawa was often overlooked. By the way of typical case study, this article reveals how ＂individual＂ as a key word in the age of Enlightenment was comprehended and translated by Fukuzawa. Doing so can make the complex history of trans-lingual translation of ＂individual＂ clear, help us deeply comprehend the connection between two important concepts Individual and People, and meanwhile show us Fukuzawa Yukiehi＇s style in word translation.
