摘　　要：2002年,《北京历史文化名城保护规划》的出台不仅将北京的历史文化保护区扩展到40片,而且明确提出北京作为我国历史文化名城的集中体现,是中华民族城市文明的重要标志与文化遗产,应高度重视北京历史文化名城保护工作。在这样一个背景下,北京旧城区的更新与发展问题受到各界越来越多的关注。本文在总结以往北京旧城保护与建设相关理论和经验的基础上,分析城市文化对于城市形象的重要性,重在提出建立北京旧城新形象的两大策略。The planning of preserving Beijing＇s history and culture has been carried out since 2002 which stipulated that 40 districts have been confirmed as the conservancy districts. Furthermore, the status of Beijing as a famous historical and cultural city has been put forward, which was concerned as the important symbol and cultural heritage of Chinese Nation. Therefore, more attention has been put on the preservation of Beijing＇s traditional districts. Based on the analysis of experiences before, the article emphasizes the importance of city culture and put forward the new policy to enhance the quality of Beijing＇s image in conservancy districts.
