摘　　要：This paper is an examination of politeness maxims functioning in contemporary Chinese, mainly following GU＇s previous study of politeness phenomena in modern Chinese. From the review of the already identified politeness maxims, it distinguished some important changes in the choice of politeness strategies in today＇s Chinese, holding that the study of politeness maxims should be given a dynamic view, and repairs are necessary as a result of dramatic changes of cultural values at different times.
