Objective To observe the role of inflammatory reaction in pathogenesis of vascular endothelial dysfunction in patients with Hashimoto' s thyroiditis (HT). Methods 58 HT patients with normal lipid profile, divided into euthyroidism group and subclinical hypothyroidism group, and 28 healthy volunteers were included in the study. The fasting serum of TG, TC, LDL-C, HDL-C, TSH, FF4 , FF3 , thyroglobulin antibody (TgAb), thyroid peroxidase antibody (TPOAb), nitric oxide (NO) and high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) were assayed. Results The serum concentrations of NO in HT patients both euthyroidism group and subclinical hypothyroidism group were significantly lower than that in healthy controis ( both P 〈 0.01 ) ,while TgAb ,TPOAb and hs-CRP higher than those in healthy controls( respectively, P 〈0.01 ). The serum concentrations of NO,TgAb,TPOAb and hs-CRP did not differ significantly in HT patients between euthyroidism group and subclinical hypothyroidism group (respectively, P 〉 0.05 ). Conclusion Chronic inflammation in low grade, potentially originated from autoimmune, is one of important causes to vascular endothelial dysfunction in HT patients with normal lipid profile.
