About Failure of Recent Doha Round

摘　　要：The Doha Development round is the current trade negotiations round of the WTO, which cominenced at Doha, Qatar in November 2001. On July 21 this year, negotiations startcd at the WTO headquarters in Geneva on thc Doha round of trade. A meeting that had been planned originally for all ministers of the WTO members was replaced on July 23 by thc small-scale ministerial meeting of the seven trading powers, namely, the U.S., the European Union （EU）, Japan, Australia, India, Brazil and China due to disparities of principal membcrs on key subjects. WTO Director General Pascal Lamy sorted out the data he had collected from the trade talks and presented a 20-point draft comprise on July 25 but, on July 29, he announced the collapse of this crucial trade round meeting as the parties involved in the talks failedto reach agreement on his draft text.
