Objective To study the changes and its clinical significance of BAEP in infantile hepatitis syndrome. Methods BEAP were measured in 50 case with infantile hepatitis syndrome. Aged from one to three months. Normal clildren of same age were studied as controis, resuhs were analysed by camparing the effect of different cause of disease and high level of bilirubin on BAEP. Results High level of bilirubin caused by different cause have effect on BAEP and there was no significant differente among different group (P 〉 0. 05) . there was significantly difference in high level of bilirubiu mainly elevated by direct bilirubin when compared with indirect bilieubin (P 〉 0. 05) . The peripheral damage (80%) was significantly more than the central damage (20%) (P 〈 0. 01 ) , The abnormality rate of BAEP in case groups was 65% , markedly higher than in control groups was 30. 4% ( P 〈0. 01 ) . Conclusion Infants with infantile hepatitis syndrome may have high abnormality rate of BAEP. It suggested that infants with infants with infantile hepatitis syndrome should have BAEP measured in order to find the abnormality as early as possible and take some treatment.
