摘　　要：太平天国运动、戊戌维新运动、义和团运动、辛亥革命四大政治运动给中国社会带来了深刻的影响。在这四次政治运动中,西方传教士采取的态度不同。他们除了对义和团运动采取敌视态度之外,对其它三大革命运动基本上都表示支持。持这种态度的根本原因在于当时中国社会接受西方文明的内在冲动和资本主义鲜明的扩张掠夺性。西方传教士在近代中国的活动,既加速了中国半殖民地化进程,又在客观上促进了中西文化的互动发展和异质文化的碰撞、选择和融合。This paper comprehensively analyses the attitude of western missionaries towards the Taiping Revolutionary Movement, the Wuxu Modernization Movement, the Yihetuan Revolutionary Movement and the Xinhai Revolutionary Movement in modern China, and probes into the reasons why the western missionaries adopt hostile attitude towards the Yihetuan Revolutionary Movement, but quite supportive towards the other three revolutions. Moreover, the paper reveals that western missionaries＂ activities both quicken China＇s semi--colony course and promote the mutual development of Chinese and Western culture, and also the collision, selection and fusion of different cultures.
