AIM: To analyze the types of AIDS optic papilla and its relationship with CD4^+ T lymph cell. METHODS: A total of 107 cases (214 eyes) of AIDS patients were retrospectively analyzed, who had been checked through the color fundus copy and fluorescein angiography (FFA) and diagnosed as optic papilla. The rate and the relationship between the types of AIDS optic papilla and the numbers of CD4^+ T lymph cell were counted up. RESULTS; Of all cases, 44 cases (71 eyes) got optic papilla, covering 41.12 % (33.2%), among which 30 eyes (42.2%) were of front iron-deficiency optic changes, 12 eyes (16.9%) of optic discus dropsy, and 29 eyes (40.8%) of no sign. Of 67 cases 134 eyes with CD4^+ T lymph cell ≤50/uL, 37 cases 59 eyes (55.2%) got optic papilla. Of 40 cases 80 eyes with CD4^+ T lymph cell ≥51 /uL, 7 cases 12 eyes (17. 5%) got optic papilla. By checking double sides, the results showed that there were obvious differences between tow groups (X^2 = 14.722, P = 0.000). CONCLUSION. The types of AIDS optic papilla are varied. And the less the numbers of CD4^+ T lymph cell are. the more possible the optic papilla will be.
