On the Surrender Ceremony in the Spring-Autumn and the Warring States Periods

摘　　要：先秦时期的战争中,经常会出现投降服输的行为,其中往往伴随一些礼仪活动,有专家称之为投降礼仪。研究发现,春秋时期战争中投降礼仪经常出现,且不同国家间的礼仪有很多相似之处;战国时期投降礼仪明显减少,礼节也十分简化。这种差异的根源在于社会结构的巨大变化。Surrender happened frequently in the wars during the pre--Qin period and was frequently accompanied by special ceremonies called Surrender Ceremony by some experts. Studies reveal that surrender ceremonies frequently occurred in the Spring--Autumn period and there were many similarities in the ceremonies occurring between different states. However, surrender ceremonies drastically decreased in the Warring States period and were much simplified. Such changers can be attributed to the huge changes in social structures.
