摘　　要：本文试图从语言功能的角度探究中国英语变体在其本土的存在、应用和发展中所承担的各种功能，重点分析其在语言运用中的两大功能，其既有标记语言使用者社会文化特征的功能，又是语言使用者实现不同交际目的的有效工具。希望为揭示中国英语变体的特征提供一个新的视角，具有一定理论意义。Following the guideline of theories on language functions,this paper attempts to investigate the two major functions of marking and facilitating which are performed by Chinese varieties of English （CVE） in intercultural and intracuhural communications. It is hoped that this study would obtain a more comprehensive understanding of CVE in the present-day China and provide insight in the complex issues involved in the formal and functional characteristics of CVE.
