摘　　要：Ahistoric election has taken place in the United States. Barack Obama＇s victory is undoubtedly a milestone in America＇s progress towards a just society. It is unimaginable that such an event could have taken place in any other nation on earth. The US is mired in a finan- cial and economic crisis and appears weak, but we shouldfft underestimate its capacity for renewal, as this election demonstrates.
