Objective To study the feasibility of embolization AVM with HEMA/NIPAAm in swine models. To observe the clinical effects and histopathological changes after embolization AVM with HEMA/ NIPAAm. Method 16 swine were used for the HEMA/NIPAAm embolization in this study. Seldinger's techniques were used and micro-catheters were induced to the swine fete mirabile(RMB) ,embolization RMB with HEMA/NIPAAm through micro-catheters. Angiographic and histopathological evaluations were made at 3days,14 days,1 month,3 months and 6 months after the embolization procedure. Results There was no difficulty in delivering HEMA/NIPAAm through micro-catheters, the injection time was more than 1 hour and no occurrence of catheter "gluing". The mixture could well diffuse into the RMB and form a cast. There was no angiographic recanalization at follow-up. Main patbological changes were scattered inflammation response manifested by the foreign body giant cell teaction. Conclusions Temperature-varied Material (HEMA/ NIPAAm)was a new embolization material, it could well diffuse into the RMB and form a east, without catheter "gluing", no angiographic recanalization at follow-up. It can be used in clinic.
