Objective To investigate the plasma concentrations of high sensitivity C-reactive protein(hs-CRP) in patients with hypertensive heart disease in hopes of providing theoretic evidence for early treatment and prevention of target organ damage caused by hypertensive heart disease. Methods 55 patients with essential hypertension who hospitalized at the Central Hospital of Xuzhou were divided into hypertension group( n = 30) and hypertensive heart disease group( n = 25 ). 40 healthy individuals were selected as control. The plasma concentrations of hs-CRP in all cases were measured by chemiluminescence method. Results The level of hs-CRP in the hypertension group ( 1 423.44 ± 565.75 ) ng/ml was significantly higher than that of the control group (291.35 ± 117.22)ng/ml ;and (4 195.90 ±1 968.76)ng/ml in the hypertensive heart disease group with target organ damage was significantly higher than those of hypertension.group and control group ( all P 〈 0.01 ). Conclusions The level of high sensitivity C-reactive protein is associated with the course of the patients with essential hypertension, which may contribute to essential hypertension accident as a better predictor of risk.
