摘　　要：In American modern history,the 1960s is a period of chaos and upheaval.It brought dramatic or even subversive changes in many aspects of the society and of people's minds.This dynamic period was generated and energized by a series of social movements,among which the counterculture movement stood out as a rebellious and radical force of youth.This article attempts to analyze the reasons for the emergence of the 1960s counterculture from a social and historical perspective.In American modem history, the 1960s is a period of chaos and upheaval.
