摘　　要：总结并反思了近年来国内外学者的中国近代城市史的研究成果,提出应从四个重要层面进行近代城市史的研究,即区域城镇发展与城镇体系、城市社会结构、城市物质空间形态、城市文化。对这四个层面的主要内容进行了分析,认为近代城市的发展动因在于区域经济发展基础上的社会结构分化所导致的城市物质空间重构,以及西方城市文化对传统中国城乡模式的改造。This paper summarizes and emphasizes explanations of the four important aspects that must be concerned about in the field of the history of Chinese modern cities, which is based on the research work of other researchers in recent years. The four most important aspects include the development of regional cities and towns, urban morphology, urban social structure, and urban culture. It also makes a brief analysis to the main problems of each aspect mentioned above, and recovers the development motivation of Chinese modern cities, that is, the special reconstruction in cities and towns resulting from the divisions of social structure based on the regional economical environment, and the innovation to the patterns of the traditional Chinese city space brought by the western urban culture.
