摘　　要：WiMAX作为一种新兴的宽带无线接入技术,一经提出便受到了业界的普遍关注。它的主要技术特点是传输速率高、覆盖范围大、支持移动性、提供QoS保证并采用基于全IP的网络架构,实现了数据分组化、接入宽带化和终端移动化三者合一,因而具有广泛的应用前景。本文将对该技术及标准的发展情况进行概述,并在与第3代蜂窝移动通信系统进行对比的基础上分析了未来宽带无线接入的发展趋势。As a new wireless broadband access technology, WiMAX has attracted more attention from the whole telecom industry. Its main features are the high-speed transmission rate, large coverage, support for mobility, QoS guarantee and all-IP architecture. The technology fulfills the integration of packetized data, broadband access and mobilized terminal. It has a bright future for wide application. Based on the introduction of WiMAX, the characteristics and the development trend of Wireless Broadband Access are discussed in this paper.
