Objective To explore the effect of language induction based on background music on pre-anesthetic patients' psychological stress. Methods Totally, 75 patients were divided into an experimental group(n: 40) and a control group (n = 35). Patients in the experimental group listened to music and language induction for 30 minutes, while their coun- terparts in the control group only listened to background music. The changes in anxiety score, systolic blood pressure (SBP), heart rate (HR), blood glucose and serum hydroeortisone level of the 2 groups were measured before anesthesia and after intervention respectively. Results After intervention, there were significant differences in the mea-surements of anxiety level, blood glucose level, serum hydrocortisone level and SBP between the 2 groups(P〈0. 05 for all). Conclusion The intervention of language induction based on background music is more helpful in reducing patients' anxiety level, and stabilizing patients' SBP, blood glucose and serum hydrocortisone level than mere pre-anesthetic intervention of background music.
