摘　　要：19世纪上半叶英国汉语语法研究取得的重要成果,不仅是同一时期中国的语言学研究所无法比拟的,而且很大程度上也超过了其西方前人对汉语语法的探索,这对当前对外汉语教学研究和汉语语法研究仍有诸多启示。The achievements of Chinese grammar research in Britain in the first half of 19th century greatly exceeded those of the previous westerners＇ in a lot of respects and can hardly be matched by those of contemporary Chinese linguists. In addition, they are still of much enlightenments to the present research on Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language and Chinese grammar. There are three outstanding characteristics in terms of research objective, method and content.
