悖论式重复——乔治·爱略特后期三部小说中工业化意象的变奏

摘　　要：近年,对乔治.爱略特的研究趋向于研究其文本中的重复热,但这类研究既没有意识到为何重复,也没有意识到小说文本中重复的本质是变奏。本文认为,在乔治.爱略特后期三部小说中,机器化、英雄、权力这三个关键词的重复,不是简单的碎片式组合,也不是简单的双重替代模版。重复的原因是社会话语系统的规约作用,而乔治.爱略特小说的意义,不在于这种重复,而在于她把这种重复自觉地化为悖论叙事策略,即悖论式重复,这种悖论式重复形成变奏发展轨迹。Recent research tends to the repetition in George Eliot＇ s novels, which touches neither the reason nor the variation nature of the repetition. This paper holds that the repetition of such key words as mechanization, hero, and power in George Eliot＇ s three later novels is not a simple patchwork of fragmental thinking, nor a mode of double substitutes. The reason of the repetition is the stipulation of an agreement of the social discourse. The significance of the novels does not lie in the repetition, but in her strategy as paradoxical narration, namely, paradoxical repetition, which results in a style of variation development.
