The feasibility of treating mixture of landfill leachate and municipal fecal supernatant was investigated in a 1 200 m^3 SBR. During the experiment, the average removal rates of COD, BOD5 , TN, NH4^+ - N and TP are 92.12% , 98.48% , 81.45% , 99.68% and 96.52% respectively. The corresponding average removal loadings are 145.75 g/(kgSS · d), 51.51 g/(kgSS · d) , 22.73 g/(kgSS · d), 25.04 g/(kgSS · d) and 0.53 g/(kgSS · d) respectively. The average removal rates of TN and COD are 81.45% and 92.46% when the C/N ratio is controlled between 5.0 and 6.5, and the effluent concentrations of COD, BOD5, NH4^+ -N, TN, TP and color are equal to or less than 450 mg/L, 30 mg/L, 10 mg/L, 180 mg/L, 1.0 mg/L and 320 times respectively. The SBR has a favorable treatment efficiency of mixture of landfill leachate and fecal supernatant. The addition of fecal supernatant can effectively enhance the biodegradability of landfill leachate and the removal rates of TN and TP. A nitrogen removal reaction with less carbon consumption than shortcut nitrification and denitrification occurs in the SBR.However, the effluent COD concentration is still relatively high.
