摘　　要：象征作为一种表现手法在文学上有着伟大的传统。它同样在海明威的《永别了,武器》中起着重要作用。本文主要集中注意力于海明威的象征运用。《永别了武器》中大量运用了这一写作手法,其中对自然景物及人物的描写都具有深刻的象征意义,在作者的笔下,书中的景物、高山、平原、雨雪,不再是单纯的自然现象,它们同时暗示着主人公遭遇.预示着主人公的命运。As a literary technique,symbolism in literature has a great tradition,and it plays an important role in Hemingway’s A Farewell to Arms. The thesis mainly focuses on Hemingway’s use of symbolism. Symbols of color and scenery,plan and mountain,rain and snow are vital elements,which help to unfold before us a bleak,chaotic,gloomy world. They foreshadow the tragic fate of the characters and create part of the novel’s poetic force.
